All projects that will help communities become more welcoming and inclusive for persons with disabilities will be considered for funding. Accessible communities are those that provide people with disabilities with equal access to the opportunities available to all people.
The GCDE seeks to support projects to design or improve facilities, environments, products and services so that they are accessible to people with disabilities. Similarly, projects to improve access to information and to means of communication for people with disabilities are eligible for funding.
The Accessible Communities Subcommittee of the GCDE approves funding for projects throughout the year. See the Subcommittee’s Operations Manual [here] for a description of the criteria employed by the Subcommittee in prioritizing projects for approval.
